Sheitan

Sheitan (2006)
AKA - Satan
Seen on DVD 25th August 2008

BRILLIANT French horror film with Vincent Cassel (Irreversible.)

STORY: 4.5/7
A group of teenagers want to go out and have some fun over the holidays. They decide to go back to Eve's house in the country of france. When they get there her housekeeper, Joseph, seems a little bit sus from the start. Little do they know what is planned for that night.

ACTING: 5/7
Vincent Cassel is a frickin' genius! He plays Joseph so believably that you almost forget it's even Cassel. However, my personal stand out is Julie-Marie Parmentier who plays "Jeanne" Joseph's insane niece. She is absolutely TERRORFYING!

CINE / VISUAL EFFECTS: 5.5/7
The French and the Italians seem to be the best at horror movies. They are always much darker and ominous, even from the beginning. I wish more movies would look and feel like this one.

SCORE / SOUND: 4/7
Cool and scary score but also utilises an odd soundtrack. Lots of french rap and rock.

SONGS: N/A

GORE RATING: 5.5/7
Not a constant flow of gore, but when it comes, it's nice and impressive. There's a fist full of hair (scalp included) and a nice little knife, made for one purpose alone.

Monica Belluci (quick cameo)
and Vincent Cassel (married)

OVERALL: 6/7
